Recap of Four Continents 2025 in Seoul, South Korea

The 2025 Four Continent Championships were nothing short of extraordinary, and we’re talking about as much of it as we can fit into a single episode!

Men’s Competition

After a shaky Asian Winter Games, Mikhail Shaidorov came to Seoul and owned both the short and long programs — taking gold over Junhwan Cha by over 20 points! Jun also had a fantastic competition overall, but a popped quad salchow in the short and a fall on the quad toe loop in the free skate held his scores back.

The more emotional story of this competition,, though, was the bronze medalist — Jimmy Ma from the USA. After years of being sooooo close, Ma came through in the clutch and skated entertaining and meaningful programs in honor of those who were lost in the plane crash in Washington, D.C. He carried photos of members from his skating home, the Skating Club of Boston, in the kiss-and-cry, making his podium placement all the more special.

Pairs Competition

Japan’s Riku Miura & Ryuchi Kihara showed why they are amongst the favorites for the World title again this season, with two dominant programs to take their second Four Continents title. In second, reigning World Champs Deanna Stellato-Dukek & Maxime Deschamps finally had the free programs they’ve been waiting for all season, lookingstrong ahead of their fight to repeat coming in 1 month in Boston.

The bronze went to the ever-improving team of Lia Pereira & Trennt Michaud from Canada. Both of their programs were stellar, but their short program really won our hearts and looks like a style they can grow with.

Women’s Competition

The wonderful Korean audience got the treat they deserved with an impressive win from the surging Chaeyeon Kim. After her win at Asian Winter Games, she looked even more confident here in both her short and long programs — and even got the second highest overall score of the season in Women’s Senior competition.

In second and third, a pair of Americans — Bradie Tennell and Sarah Everhardt — turned in outstanding performances that showed the depth of women’s skating in the U.S.. With Alysa Liu coming in a close fourth, this was a great showing for Team USA.

Ice Dance Competition

By just a half of a point, Piper Gilles & Paul Porrier of Canada took their second straight title here with an upset over the reigning World Champions, Madison Chock & Evan Bates. Based on just how close it was between these two brilliant teams, the World Championships in one month just got even more interesting.

In third, the effervescent Marjorie Lajoie & Zachary Lagha had a noteworthy error in the free dance that gave us a scare, but they were able to hold onto the bronze over a strong Christine Carreira & Anthony Ponomarenko.
